The Easter falls on April 16th this year which is right slap bang in the middle of Spring Break. This means that a lot of warmer locations will be filled with students enjoying a few too many drinks and a lot of parties. Luckily, it is also the perfect time to catch the end of the ski season and with all the adrenalin junkies moving off the slopes and heading to the mountains and canyons, you can enjoy a little calmer Apres Ski either on a romantic break or with your family.
Meribel is a really popular resort and offers up a great mix of runs suitable for the beginner and expert skier. It is also bang on trend and makes most ski fanatics bucket list, so the end of the season is the perfect time to explore.
Due to the time of the year and the unpredictable quality of the snow, you will find some great last minute deals which could see you saving money across your whole package, this could mean you are able to go for some uber luxury accommodation like the Chalet Lapin Blanc Meribel Centre. Located right by the central ski lifts, it is a ski in, ski out, chalet so you don’t have to worry about transport and can enjoy more time on the piste.
Although skiing mid season can be really expensive, skiing towards the end of the season throws up some brilliant deals. You may also be able to pick up some great bargains in the ski shops as a lot of places are clearing their stock ready for the new season. It’s a good time to get some great quality ski clothing and maybe to invest in a set of your own skis. You may also find that instructors are offering a better deal on lessons which makes this a great time of year to refine your skills.
With fewer high speed skiers around, it is also a good time of year to tackle some of the harder slopes or, to head out on a more nordic type experience where you take to a little off piste skiing. Adventuring through the mountains, on skis, can open up some breathtaking scenery and beautiful apres ski spots you may have avoided during the busier times of the year.
Of course, you don’t have to stick to europe. America and Canada have some great deals on at this time of year. Canada is having a really great season for snow and even in the low levels of Calgary they are getting a late snowfall. You may find a busier resort if you head to America or Canada though, so get in touch before you leave and do your research.
If you are looking for a little winter fun, over some winter sun then get your bags packed and head off for a brilliant Easter adventure. Just don’t forget to pack some eggs with you. A skiing egg hunt sounds like a great way of spending the global celebration!
